ONE Year Ago, Someone Wrote To Call Me A Hypocrite! Ideas To Help You Develop Yourself To Achieve Your FULL Potential |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
One year ago, on Friday 3rd March 2006 I made a lengthy post on my first website log (weblog) in response to what I considered a rather venomous email from someone who chose to remain anonymous. In that email, s/he called me a hypocrite - among other things - accusing me of trying to deceive innocent people with my website talk about Self-Development etc. That day, even as I typed my response to him/her I made a vow to myself that I would revisit the issue, with the objective of using it as a good example of how people who have given up on themselves can resent you for believing you can do something of value with YOUR life DESIPTE difficult circumstances you find yourself in. Today, I want to ask you to read what my anonymous friend said about me. You can then compare with my response to him/her on the same page and finish by reading a brief intro to that blog post that I did with reference to an article in TIME magazine about challenges of entrepreneuring in Nigeria. Then cap it up by reading my latest article titled "There Is Nothing Wrong With A Humble Beginning- Achieve YOUR Success With Honour & Integrity". I know this is asking a lot, but I want you to imagine it was someone you loved (e.g. your child, spouse or sibling) that was on the receiving end of such an attack as the one that was launched on me. I believe if you read what I said - and did - to counter it, you might get some idea of what you can say - or do - to support YOUR OWN loved one in the event that s/he has a similar experience while pursuing a valued life goal. A lot of people have given up their causes because of attacks like the one I refer to. Those of us who want to achieve BIG dreams in life must be aware that others may "resent" us for aiming THAT high, and even try to bring us down. By learning about how others survived similar potentially traumatizing occurrences, we increase our chances of getting to the finish line! Let me end by reproducing excerpts from an ebook titled "How To Help Your Child Discover His/Her Purpose In Life" that I wrote back in 2003, in which I articulated my vision for my work on Self-Development Education. I believe anyone who evaluates what I do today will find that I remain committed to it: I do not know what your own standards for success evaluation are. One thing I do know however is that success is a never-ending journey of continuous improvement. So despite the fact that I have achieved significant successes (and failures which prepared me for other later successes) in various areas of endeavour - like sports, academics, writing, language studies, people development etc, I will say that I continue to strive to achieve my ultimate goal in life. That goal is to influence the initiation of a strong and lasting change of mental attitudes in my fellow countrymen towards REAL success consciousness. It is my vision that through the work I now do, and by sharing a lot of my significant achievements in education, sports, paid employment etc with those who express interest, I will help others aspire to, and achieve their fullest possible potentials in life. I hope to be a role model for them to follow. I aspire to lead them by example, showing the ways it should be done. And I intend to equip myself to do this by learning from my experiences, studying what others have done and reaching out to those who have gone ahead of me – and who indicate willingness to help – for assistance. It usually takes one person to start up a new way of doing things. At the time when he/she begins, few, if any, will have heard of him/her – or the new way/thing being proposed. (And sometimes when they do know the person it often is with regard to prior failure, so they really never pay him/her serious attention.) History is replete with examples of this happening repeatedly. History definitely repeats itself. I wonder therefore, why people never think to take a cue from history?
